The Uintah School Board held a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday at the district office in Naples. An audio recording of the work session can be found HERE. An audio recording of the business meeting can be found HERE.

 

During the business meeting, the board celebrated the district’s Students of the Month. The April 2025 Students of the Month are Denver Daley (Central Cove Preschool); Tevya Todd (Ashley Elementary); Rigdyn Anderton (Davis Elementary); Aspyn Hadden (Discovery Elementary; Hunter Lopez (Eagle View Elementary); Fifita Maile (Lapoint Elementary); Logan Hansen (Maeser Elementary); Luke Elmer (Naples Elementary); Maxine Uncapiuke (Uintah Middle School); Haley Chavez (Vernal Middle School); Max Chapoose (Uintah High); and Mattix Patterson (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online). 

 

The board also celebrated:

  • Uintah High wrestler Caden Young, who earned All-American status by placing second in the 285-pound classification at NHSCA Nationals in Virginia on March 30.

  • Uintah High Sterling Scholars Lily Carlson, Teran Nash and Tommy Cruz IV. Carlson won the Northeast Region Sterling Scholar Competition in the Visual Arts category. Nash won the Northeast Region Sterling Scholar Competition in the Skilled and Technical Education category. Cruz was the Computer Technology categore runner-up in the Northeast Region competition. UHS Sterling Scholars Stockton Jolley and Ethan Pierce were honored as well but were unable to attend the meeting. Jolley won the Science category. Pierce was the runner-up in the Speech, Theatre Arts and Debate category.

     

Congratulations to all these outstanding students and thanks to everyone who supports them.

 

USD Network Outage

The Uintah School District recently began experiencing suspicious and malicious network activity resulting in a disruption to certain systems within our network. Upon learning of the event, we immediately began investigating with the assistance of third-party specialists. We are working to restore full functionality to our systems as quickly and safely as possible.

The investigation into the impact to data in this event is ongoing. Please know that if we determine that faculty or student sensitive personal information was affected, you will receive additional communications from us in compliance with the law.

Spring Break 2025

There will be no school from Monday, April 14, to Friday, April 18, for Spring Break. The district office will be closed Thursday and Friday, April 17 and April 18. Classes will resume as normal and the district office will reopen on Monday, April 21.

 

Tickets for Happy Days on Sale

Tickets are on sale now for the Uintah High Theatre production of Happy Days: A New Musical. The famed drive-in malt shop and No. 1 hangout, Arnold's, is in danger of demolition. So, the gang teams up to save it with a dance contest and a TV-worthy wrestling match. The show will run four nights only – April 29 to May 2. All performances start at 7 p.m. For tickets, visit uintah.ludus.com.

 

Celebrations

Uintah High’s FFA chapter recently competed in nine events at the Deseret Peaks Invitational in Tooele. Quade Lawson, Kassie Coombs, Quacey Smuin and Dalli Horrocks placed 1st in Livestock Evaluation. Sidney Anderson, Abbie Olsen, Marlee Merrell and Kenna Dudley placed 2nd in Food Science. Anderson was 1st High Individual for the event. Ashley Clark, Auklynd Jones, Taryn Kidd and Lillian Strasburg placed 2nd in Floriculture. Weston Slaugh, Taiyolor George and Daleen Holthus placed 3rd in Poultry Evaluation. And Thomas McKeachnie, Conner Mckee, Page Liebhardt and Rope Williams placed 4th in Milk Quality Products.

 

The next event for Uintah FFA is the Utah FFA State Association Contest later this month in Logan.

 

Weekend Events

Uintah High Baseball is hosting Payson High today for a doubleheader at UHS. It’s Teacher Appreciation Day for the Utes. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 3:30 p.m. Game 2 will start shortly after the conclusion of Game 1. The games will be streamed live on the Uintah High Hudl Fan site.

 

Uintah High Boys Soccer is hosting Mountain View High today at Coach Belcher Stadium. The JV game starts at 3:30 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at about 5:30 p.m. The varsity game will be streamed live on the Uintah High Hudl Fan site.

 

Uintah High Softball is playing in Heber this afternoon, taking on the Wasps at Wasatch High. First pitch for the varsity game is set for 3:30 p.m., with the JV game to follow. The varsity game will be streamed live on the Wasatch High Hudl Fan site.

 

Uintah High Boys Tennis is competing in the Panther Slam today and tomorrow in St. George. The Utes are scheduled to play Pine View High, Manti High and Bountiful High today. Today’s results will determine match times and opponents for tomorrow matches.

 

Uintah High Track and Field is hosting the Uintah Invitational at Coach Belcher Stadium tomorrow. Events are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and will go throughout the day.

 

Last but certainly not least, Uintah High Theatre has 11 nominees up for awards at tomorrow night’s Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards at the Eccles Theatre in Salt Lake City. For Hadestown: Teen Edition, the nominated finalists are Benson Baumgarten, Best Actor; Reed Uasila'a, Best Supporting Actor; Aurelia Harrison, Best Supporting Actress; and Lily Carlson, Best Student Scenic Design. The show is also a finalist in the Best Lighting Design category. For Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Carlson is a finalist in the Best Student Scenic Design category and Chris Piner is a finalist for Best Director. The show is also a finalist in the Best Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Costume Design and Best Technical Crew categories.
