On March 19, Uintah School District Superintendent Dr. Rick Woodford released the following Statement of Intent regarding privately donated funds raised in support of the district's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program:

Uintah School District provides a comprehensive Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program for students in Uintah County. This includes a full immersion program at Discovery Elementary and extended opportunities for DLI instruction for students in middle school and high school.

Community Supporters of Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Teachers is an informal group of concerned citizens from Uintah County who intend to raise funds to help support the districtā€™s DLI program. This group has expressed an explicit interest in raising funds to support the retention of the districtā€™s DLI teachers.

Uintah School District agrees to use all privately donated funds that are explicitly earmarked for the districtā€™s DLI program and raised between now and June 30, 2025, for this cause. Donations cannot be refunded. Any remaining funds or funds that cannot be used for DLI teacher retention will be earmarked for DLI and used at the discretion of the building principals to provide supplies and materials for DLI classrooms.

Donations can be made through Chauntue Peterson, secretary at Discovery Elementary. Receipt of donation for tax purposes will be provided upon request. All donations will be received and processed according to Uintah School District Policies 004.0610 and 004.0611.

The district appreciates the communityā€™s support of our DLI programs.

Sincerely,

Rick Woodford
