The Uintah School Board will hold a regularly scheduled business meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. at the district office in Naples. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and approve proposed capital projects for the upcoming fiscal year.
The agenda for the meeting will be available on the district website in BoardDocs under the School Board section. The district intends to stream the business meeting live on its YouTube Channel. Online public comment for the board can be submitted at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5PMNWZV.
Feb. 12 Board Meeting
The Uintah School Board held a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Feb. 12. Video of the work session and business meeting can be found on the districtās YouTube channel.
During the business meeting, the board celebrated the districtās Students of the Month for March February: Riley Specht (Central Cove Preschool), Max Blankenagel (Ashley Elementary), Parker Foster (Davis Elementary), Amelia Wright (Discovery Elementary), Loretta Murray (Eagle View Elementary), Sili Maile (Lapoint Elementary), Logan Addaikai (Maeser Elementary), Houston Kail (Naples Elementary), Eliza Mathis (Uintah Middle School), Ruby Foster (Vernal Middle School), Angel Fernandez (Uintah High School), Teaglenn Cook (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online).
Congratulations to these outstanding students and to everyone who supports them!
The board also celebrated Eagle View Elementary art specialist Madison Young and Vernal Middle School art teacher Necia Collotzi. Young was named the Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the Utah Art Educators Association, and Collozti was named the associationās Middle School Art Educator of the Year.
Vernal Middle School student Traysen Clyde was also honored by the school board for winning the Fall 2024 Stock Market Game competition along with classmate Denton Martin, who was unable to attend the meeting.
No School Monday
There is no school on Monday, Feb. 24. It is a professional development day for district teachers and staff. Classes resume and the third trimester begins on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
State of the District
The Uintah Schools Foundation will host its annual State of the District event at the Uintah Conference Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 8 a.m. This free event will feature presentations by middle school and high school student body officers and district administrators; musical performances by students; and celebrations of Uintah Highās Sterling Scholars and the winners of the foundationās Teachers in Excellence award.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Tickets are on sale now for the Uintah High Theatre production of Roald Dahlās Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This fantastical show runs Feb. 28-March 1, March 3-4, and March 6-8 in the Uintah High auditorium. Showtime is 7 p.m. for all performances. For tickets, click HERE.
Central Cove Logo Contest
The Uintah School District is holding a design contest for a logo to represent the new Monarchs mascot for Central Cove Early Learning Center. Central Cove is home to a developmental, inclusive preschool program open to all children from ages 3 to kindergarten.
This logo design contest is open to all Uintah School District students in grades 9 through 12 at Uintah High School, Ashley Valley Education Center, and Uintah Online. The creator of the winning design will receive a $500 prize.
The deadline to submit a design is Monday, March 3, at 5 p.m. The design chosen by the selection committee will be presented to the Uintah School Board at its meeting on March 12. The winning designer will be celebrated during the boardās business meeting on April 9.

Career Day Volunteers Wanted
The district is seeking volunteers from a diverse range of careers to participate in our upcoming Career Day events. Your experiences and insights can inspire the next generation and help them make informed decisions about their future.
Upcoming Career Day events include: Davis Elementary - April 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Eagle View Elementary - April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Uintah High School - May 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Vernal Middle School - May 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Celebrations
Uintah High Boys Wrestling won its 5th consecutive team state title and 28th championship in program history last week. Six Utes also won individual state titles: Maddax Hacking (113), Ethan Sharp (120), Michael Alexander (126), Rykan Hacking (132), Brody Rhoades (144), and Parker Streight (157). Alexander became the first wrestler in Uintah High history to win four individual state titles. He was named the 4A Outstanding Wrestler of the Year for the lower weights for the second consecutive year. Sharp, Rykan Hacking and Rhoades each earned their second individual state crowns. The other Utes on the podium at state were: Joshua Garcia (106) and Caden Young (285) ā 2nd place; Travis Angus (106), Peyton Hogan (120), Gage McMickell (138) and Chase McCurdy (175) ā 3rd place; Trevor Angus (132), Talon Stevens (165), and Lukas Turner (190) ā 4th place; Brady McCurdy (150) ā 5th place; and Kannon Ufford (175) ā 6th place.
Uintah High Girls Wrestling placed 3rd as a team at the 4A Girls State Tournament last week. Leena Sharp (100) and Sadie Rhoades (115) each won individual state titles. Sharp went undefeated in her freshman season with a record of 47-0. For Rhoades, it was her second consecutive individual state crown. The other Utes on the podium at state were: Kenna McCauley (105) and Issa Laamouri (140) ā 2nd place; Acailles Jenks (110) ā 4th place; Sophia Richens (145) and Addelynn Roeglin (235) ā 6th place.
Six Uintah High student-athletes were recognized last week by the Utah High School Activities Association with the Academic All-State Award for the winter sports season. Paul Buschkowsky (Boys Swimming); Dauson Gardiner (Boys Basketball); Stockton Jolley (Boys Swimming); Lauren Labrum (Girls Basketball); Brayden Murray (Boys Basketball); and Angel Rios (Boys Basketball) each earned the award, which is considered the most prestigious honor UHSAA presents to senior student-athletes.
Weekend Events
The Uintah High Cheer Team will hold its annual Cheer Review for the 2024-2025 season at 7 p.m. tonight in the Main Gym at the high school. Admission is free. If you cannot attend in person, the event will be streamed live on the Uintah High Hudl Fan website.
