The Uintah School Board will hold a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the district office in Naples. The work session is set to start at 4 p.m. The business meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Agendas for both meetings will be posted on the district website in BoardDocs under the School Board tab.

VMS Fine & Performing Arts Showcase
Vernal Middle School will hold a Fine & Performing Arts Showcase on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. Student artwork will be on display. The event will include performances by the schoolās bands, orchestra and choir.
UHS Jazz Band Dinner
Pandemonium, the Uintah High Jazz Band, is hosting its annual Jazz Dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Elks Lodge, 35 N. 300 West in Vernal. The event starts at 6 p.m. and includes dinner and performances by Pandemonium. For tickets, click HERE.
State of the District
The Uintah Schools Foundation will host its annual State of the District event at the Uintah Conference Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 8 a.m. This free event will feature presentations by middle school and high school student body officers and district administrators; musical performances by students; and celebrations of Uintah Highās Sterling Scholars and the winners of the foundationās Teachers in Excellence award. The public is invited to attend.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Tickets are on sale now for the Uintah High Theatre production of Roald Dahlās Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This fantastical show runs Feb. 28-March 1, March 3-4, and March 6-8 in the Uintah High auditorium. Showtime is 7 p.m. for all performances. For tickets, click HERE.
Central Cove Logo Contest
The Uintah School District is holding a design contest for a logo to represent the new Monarchs mascot for Central Cove Early Learning Center. Central Cove is home to a developmental, inclusive preschool program open to all children from ages 3 to kindergarten.
This logo design contest is open to all Uintah School District students in grades 9 through 12 at Uintah High School, Ashley Valley Education Center, and Uintah Online. The creator of the winning design will receive a $500 prize.
The deadline to submit a design is Monday, March 3, at 5 p.m. The design chosen by the selection committee will be presented to the Uintah School Board at its meeting on March 12. The winning designer will be celebrated during the boardās business meeting on April 9.

Celebrations
Congratulations to Uintah High freshman Lucas Caldwell! He finished 7th in the state in the PowerPoint section of the Fall Qualifier for the 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championships. Caldwell took the test during first trimester while he was a student in Kay Lynn Holmesā Business Office Specialist class. The test results were released last Friday.
Weekend Events
Uintah High Boys Basketball and Uintah High Girls Basketball are both on the road today, taking on the Lions at Payson High School in their final region games of the regular season. The JV boysā game is set for 3:30 p.m., sophomores and freshmen play at 5:15 p.m., and varsity plays at 7 p.m. For the girlsā teams, JV plays at 3:30 p.m., varsity plays at 5:15 p.m. and freshmen play at 7 p.m. The boys and girls varsity games will be streamed live on the Payson High Hudl Fan website.
The Uintah High Boys Swim Team and Uintah High Girls Swim Team are competing at the 4A State Swim Meet tonight and tomorrow night. The Utes' state qualifiers are Jaten Barraclough, Paul Buschkowsky, Keith Caldwell, Arina Darii, Elley Hacking, Daniel Johnson, Keni Porter, Jarom Thomas, Amanda Valadez, Tracie Valadez, Takoma Ruppe, Madyson Olsen, Joe Caldwell, Caleb Hadlock, and Efren Melendez. Alternates Emily Anderson and Cru Archer are also traveling with the team. The meet, which starts at 5 p.m. each day, is being held at the BYU Pool in Provo. The meet will be streamed live on KSL Sports.
Five teams from the Uintah High Robotics Club are signed up to compete tomorrow in the Eastern Utah VEX V5 Robotics Competition at Union High School. Qualifying matches are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. There will be a lunch break at noon, followed by more qualifying matches at 1 p.m., and a tournament starting at 2:45 p.m. The tournament is expected to last about an hour.
