The Uintah School Board voted unanimously during its business meeting Wednesday to hire D. Troy Timothy as the districtās new business administrator.
āGiven his wealth of professional experience, Troy will be a great addition to the Uintah School Districtās leadership team,ā Board President Dave Chivers said. āIām confident heāll play a key role in our ongoing efforts to keep Uintah on the rise.ā
Timothy, a 1992 graduate of Uintah High School, holds a bachelorās degree in finance and international business from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Michigan State University. For the past 25 years he has worked in finance, financial analysis, and operations at major companies such as Frito-Lay, Safelite AutoGlass, and Vans. He currently serves as the senior manager of financial planning and analysis for a multimillion-dollar specialty food manufacturing and distribution company in California.
āI've generally worked for publicly traded companies, Fortune 500 type companies that are listed on the stock exchange. We follow a lot of regulatory compliance rules,ā said Timothy, who noted that managing finances in the public sector can be āa completely different animal.ā
āI look forward to applying my extensive experience to the accounting standards and regulations associated with public education,ā he said. āTo be honest, there aren't many jobs in Vernal where I can really use my educational and professional background like this, so I'm excited for this opportunity.ā
Timothy also expressed enthusiasm about the districtās commitment to continuous improvement.
āIām impressed with the superintendent and the school board. I believe weāll work well together,ā he said. āIām also excited to hear about the positive progress the district has made with their test scores and how much improvement they've made over the last few years with various programs.ā
Timothy and his wife, Jill, are eager to return to Uintah County with their family after living outside Utah for the past 25 years.
āWeāve lived all over the country,ā Timothy said. āI wouldn't trade those experiences for anything because theyāve shaped me and my family into who we are today. But I'm also looking forward to getting back to my roots and being around a lot of people that I know, love, and care about.ā
Timothyās first day with the district will be Jan. 6.
