The Uintah School Board will hold a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the school district office in Naples. The work session will begin at 4 p.m. The business meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Agendas for both meetings are available on the district website in BoardDocs under the School Board tab.

VMS Arts Showcase
Vernal Middle School will host its Winter Fine & Performing Arts Showcase on Tuesday, Dec. 10, starting at 6 p.m. This FREE event will include musical performances and displays by student-artists and CTE students.
UHS Band & Orchestra Concert
The Uintah High Band and Orchestra will perform their concert, āSanta the Barbarian,ā on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is FREE. The concert will be streamed live on the Uintah Bands Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person.
VMS/UMS Food Fight
The Great Middle School Food Fight between Vernal and Uintah middle schools wrapped up just before the Thanksgiving Break. The two schools combined to collect 3,350 pounds of food for the Ashley Valley Food Pantry. VMS claimed the win, collecting 2,100 pounds of food (2.5 pounds per student). UMS collected 1,250 pounds of food (2.2 pounds per student). The Mustangās victory meant that VMS Vice Principal Jon Gorski got to shave UMS teacher Kedric Coonisā head during an assembly at UMS. Great job serving our community, Mustangs and Hawks!
Davis Dragons Serve Military Members
The Davis Elementary Dragons recently accepted a challenge to collect 500 items for care packages that would be sent to members of the U.S. military for Christmas. By the end of November, the students had collected more than 2,000 items, which were placed in 29 boxes for shipping. The postage was paid for by community partners. Great job, Dragons!
UHS Sterling Scholars
Uintah High announced its 2024-2025 Sterling Scholars this week. David Anderson (Mathematics), Lily Carlson (Visual Arts), Tommy Cruz IV (Computer Technology), Devin Dickson (World Languages), Ashlynn Dillman (Social Science), Kyan Hiatt (Instrumental Music), Stockton Jolley (Science), Ethan Pierce (Speech, Theater Arts, and Debate), Teran Nash (Skilled & Technical Sciences), and Addison Woodford (General Scholarship) will represent UHS at the Northeast Region Sterling Scholar Competition in March.
The Sterling Scholar program, launched in 1962, encourages academic excellence by awarding scholarships and publicly recognizing some of Utahās top high school seniors. The region winner in each category receives a $2,500 scholarship, while two region runners-up in each category receive $1,000 apiece.

The Uintah High Boys Basketball Team is playing in the Bear River Winter Classic today and tomorrow. Todayās games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (sophomores), 5 p.m. (freshmen and JV), 6:30 p.m. (varsity). The varsity game will be streamed live on Bear River Highās Hudl Fan page. Saturdayās games are scheduled for 10 a.m. (freshmen and sophomores), 11:30 a.m. (JV), and 4 p.m. (varsity). Saturdayās varsity game will be streamed live at www.brlivestream.com.
The Uintah High Girls Wrestling Team is competing today and tomorrow at F.I.G.H.T. at Farmington High School, while the Uintah High Boys Wrestling team is competing today and tomorrow at the Layton Invitational Tournament in Layton.
The Uintah High Cheer and Stunt Team is at Bountiful High School tomorrow for their first competition of the season. The Utes are scheduled to take the floor at 1 p.m. (Band Chant) and at 4:31 p.m. (Varsity Show).
The Uintah Uāettes are also competing tomorrow at the Premier Drill Classic at Utah Valley University in Orem. The Uāettes are scheduled to perform at 9:23 a.m. (Military), 11:45 a.m. (Dance), and 1:49 p.m. (Show).
