The Uintah School Board will hold its regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Eagle View Elementary School in the auditorium. The work session is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. The business meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Between the work session and business meeting, the board will hold its annual Impact Aid meeting at 5:30 p.m. The Impact Aid meeting will include school presentations by Eagle View Principal Chris Jones and Lapoint Elementary Principal Emily Arnold. Red Spirit Singers and Ute Indian Tribe Royalty will take part in the meeting as well.
Impact Aid is a federal program. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt federal property, including Indian lands. Parents/guardians of students who attend USD schools and reside on Indian lands are encouraged to attend the Impact Aid meeting to learn more about the district's educational programs and offer suggestions and input.

School Foods to Honor Vets
To honor the veterans of our nationās Armed Forces, the Uintah School Foods Department is displaying a āVeterans Wallā in November at each school. The wall will be a bulletin board or similar display with pictures of veterans as the focal point.
Individuals can send photos of veterans they know to school with their student. Students should give the photos to the Foods staff at their school. If you would like the picture back, please send a note with your studentās name, grade, and homeroom teacher so the photo can be returned. School staff members are invited to contribute photos of the veterans in their lives as well. Individuals can also email photos of veterans they know to keri.bowthorpe@uintah.net.
Uintah Basin Community Matters Conference
The annual Uintah Basin Community Matters Conference is set for Monday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. at Roosevelt Junior High School. Admission is FREE. Thurl Bailey is this year's keynote speaker. Before Bailey's presentation at 7 p.m., there will be a screening of the award-winning short film Screenagers. The film examines the struggles many families face when it comes to social media use, video games and academics. There will also be informational booths from state and local entities.
Uintah High Choir Concert
Uintah High Choir will perform its Solos & Stuff Concert, titled The Princess Bride, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. in the UHS auditorium. Admission is FREE. The concert will be streamed live on the Uintah High Choir Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person.
No Classes on Nov. 15
First trimester ends on Thursday, Nov. 14. No classes will be held on Friday, Nov. 15. It is a professional development day for district staff. Second trimester begins and classes resume on Monday, Nov. 18.
Wellness Summit at UMS
Uintah Middle School will host its annual Family and Community Wellness Summit on Monday, Nov. 18. Admission is FREE. This yearās event features booths from local groups, breakout sessions covering a variety of wellness topics, and a food donation spot for the Great Middle School Food Fight. Booths open at 5:30 p.m. and breakout sessions start at 6 p.m. Every attendee will be entered to win a Family Fun Night Basket and there will be other drawings and refreshments throughout the night.
Weekend Events
The Uintah High School Swim Team is in southern Utah this weekend for the Cedar Invitational. Races start tonight at 5:15 p.m. at the Cedar Aquatic Center in Cedar City. The second day of competition starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.
