During the business meeting, the board celebrated the districtās students of the month. The students of the month for October are are Bella Sheffer (Central Cove Preschool); Ellie Sanchez (Ashley Elementary); Baylexx Gardiner (Davis Elementary); Huxton Wiseman (Discover
Elementary); Araya Ignacio (Eagle View Elementary); Lilli Reed-Taveapont (Lapoint Elementary); Trace Roundy (Maeser Elementary); Paige Collett (Naples Elementary); Fisher Kidd (Uintah Middle School); Kale Wilson (Vernal Middle School); Aubrey Vance (Uintah High School); and Chloe Carpenter (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online).
Congratulations to these outstanding students and thanks to everyone who supports them!
The board also celebrated Alisa Cook, the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts teacher at Ashley and Davis elementary schools. Cook was recognized by the Utah Dance Education Organization as its Educator of Excellence for October.
No School Oct. 16-18
All Uintah School District schools will be closed Oct. 16-18 for Fall Break. All district offices will be closed Oct. 18 for Fall Break. Classes will resume and district offices will reopen on Monday, Oct. 21.
Tickets on Sale for Hadestown: Teen Edition
Opening night is nearly here, so make sure to get your tickets for the Uintah High Theatre production of Hadestown: Teen Edition. This musical is still on Broadway. It intertwines two mythic tales ā that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and Queen Persephone ā as it invites audiences on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back. School Foods to Honor Vets
To honor the veterans, the Uintah School Foods Department will be setting a āVeterans Wallā in November at each school. The wall will be a bulletin board or similar display with pictures of veterans as the focal point. Beginning next week, individuals can send photos of veterans they know to school with their student. Students should give the photos to the Foods staff at their school. If you would like the picture back, please send a note with your studentās name, grade, and homeroom teacher so the photo can be returned. Individuals can also email photos of veterans they know to keri.bowthorpe@uintah.net.
Weekend Events
Uintah High Tennis players Sophia Pope and Hailey Rasmussen play in the 2nd round of the 4A State Tournament today in the 1st doubles bracket. They are slated to take on the 1st doubles pair from Green Canyon High School at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. The final round of the state tournament concludes on Saturday at Liberty Park.
The Uintah High Volleyball Team is hosting the Cottonwood High Colts today. The sophomore game starts at noon. The JV game will be played at 1:30 p.m. Varsity takes the floor at 3 p.m. The varsity game will be streamed live on the Uintah High Athletics YouTube channel.
The Uintah High Marching Band and Color Guard will compete on Saturday in the Wasatch Front Invitational at Riverton High School. The Utes are scheduled to perform at 2:15 p.m. For tickets, visit

Twelve Uintah High Choir students are performing Saturday night with the All-State Choir at The Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Edana Clark, Kylie Caldwell, Nathan Daley, Alex Fisher, Irelyn Greco, Joseph Hardin, Lauren McKee, Ethan Pierce, Isaac Ray, Emmalee Sellers, Normand Thompson, Ellie Zelaya have been rehearsing with the choir this week. Saturdayās concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Seating is first come, first seated.
